Technological progress has led companies to equip themselves with increasingly sophisticated systems to manage logistical processes up to the adoption of structures such as automatic warehouses, which include robots and machinery capable of handling goods coordinating with each other without human intervention.

But what happens to the entrances of these large buildings?

Even though the software for logistics management is sophisticated, the problem of having to transfer the goods from the factory to the warehouse and subsequently to the distribution center remains.

Our automatic loading and unloading system fits into this context and offers a new level of automation.

The system involves the installation of one or more automatic loading and unloading lines and one or more semi-trailers equipped with the Rollerkit system.

Once connected to the existing system, we will have obtained the automation of the end of the line.

This solution offers maximum performance when goods have to be moved on pallets (read more about pallets), but guarantees excellent results even with products that cannot be transported on standard supports. Clearly this is due to the fact that the means of transport on the market such as semi-trailers are designed to best accommodate standardized supports.

Goods shuttling

Companies that produce large volumes of products usually already have a logistics system to deliver goods across the country. Growing up, they find themselves with the need to separate the warehouse in which to store the goods from the production plant and consequently are forced to "shuttle" their products from one place to another before reaching the distribution phase. A challenge that takes up resources, time and energy. We are talking about companies that move hundreds of packages every day.

The shuttling operation therefore consists of transporting produced goods from the factory to the place where they will be stored before being distributed throughout the country.
Where possible, the goods are palletized, to store them efficiently and move them easily. The transfer is usually done using semi-trailers.

The transport of a full load consists of a loading phase, an unloading phase and two travel phases (round trip). This is what is called the duty cycle.

To fully load a semi-trailer with traditional equipment it takes on average between 30 and 50 minutes, and it takes about 30 minutes for the unloading operation. Assuming we can cover the distance between the factory and the warehouse in 20 minutes, we have a work cycle of about 110 minutes. Almost two hours.

The duration of the work cycle is therefore what determines the efficiency of the shuttling operation. Being able to lower the work cycle time allows you to transport more packages in less time.

How does it work?

One or more automatic loading lines are installed in the entrance area (often set up with a loading bay) of the production plants, while one or more unloading lines are installed at the entrances of external warehouses or of a logistics center. It is also possible to provide for the installation of one or more accumulation lines.

The lines can be fed with forklifts, LGV / AGV, or be connected directly to the production lines or automatic warehouses according to the customer's needs.

To complete the system there is the preparation of the semitrailer with our Rollerkit system. This set-up, as well as being essential for the operation of the system and guaranteeing cycle times otherwise impossible to obtain, allows you to have a vehicle with the best automated loading and unloading system available on the market.

Types of plant

Depending on the type of goods to be transported, we can create different solutions.

The most used solution for the transport of palletized goods is the roller and chain system, composed precisely of idle rollers, on which the pallets will rest, and motorized chains that carry out the movement of the goods. This type of plant can be completed with diverters, chain conveyors, motorized roller conveyors, rotary tables, shuttles and bar code reading stations depending on the warehouse layout and customer needs.

Alternatively, the system can be made with a conveyor belt. This solution is particularly suitable for non-palletized goods such as coils and household appliances and has the advantage of being trailerable.

Complete integration and preparation for industry 4.0

Moveco Systems automatic loading and unloading systems fall within the type of investments included in the Transition Plan 4.0 and related tax credit.

Our technology is able to read the codes of outgoing and incoming packages, and communicate them to the warehouse management software (for example a WMS), eliminating the need for manual scanning. It is also able to communicate with existing systems and LGVs.
